Membership

ILCCO Membership is $500 annually. Membership is available to Illinois community college districts. ILCCO members work to improve the quality of online learning at their institution and across Illinois. ILCCO looks for areas of leadership to assist colleges in being providers of quality online learning. These areas include special projects, grants, partnerships and collaborations. ILCCO provides numerous professional development and networking opportunities. ILCCO provides a mechanism for course and program sharing between member colleges.

ILCCO Director

The Illinois Community College Board provides the ILCCO director.

ILCCO Steering Committee

ILCCO is governed by a steering committee that provides direction and oversight for ILCCO. Each member college district assigns a Steering Committee member to represent them in ILCCO. Member college districts may also designate one alternate member to represent the college district. Alternates may attend the Steering Committee meetings with the Steering Committee member, but each member college district has one vote.

The Steering Committee communicates through a listserv at iccb-ilcco-steering-committee@lists.illinois.gov.

ILCCO Sub-Committees

ILCCO has a number of sub-committees and task forces to carry out needed work to meet ILCCO's goals and objectives. These sub-committees allow members to pursue similar interests and goals collaboratively. The subcommittees and their members are re-assessed annually and their make up may change from year to year.

Technical and Fiscal Operations

ILCCO has an agreement with Lake Land College for providing technical operations for ILCCO. ICCB provides fiscal operations.

Website

The ILCCO website, http://www.ilcco.net, is currently in revision to better organize public and private sides to the database to create a more effective communication platform for ILCCO. The current site has the following pieces:

ILCCO Wiki

ILCCO uses a wiki for general administrative work for the body. Committees use the wiki as a work site to handle work in progress and as a repository for meeting minutes and more. The wiki is at http://ilcco.pbworks.com. If you are a Steering Committee member and do not have access to the wiki, please contact the ILCCO Director to be added as a writer to the wiki.

Course & Program Sharing

ILCCO member colleges can share online courses and programs with each other to meet the needs of their colleges. If you have additional capacity in low enrollment courses or programs, excess student demand, or students with special needs, course sharing partnerships with ILCCO institutions helps colleges address those needs. Course sharing is optional for ILCCO colleges.

Colleges involved in course sharing will designate an ILCCO Champion on their campus. Champions are the "go-to" people at the colleges for course sharing, serving as a local resource for the colleges. Champions communicate within the OCE course sharing system and are also connected through the ILCCO Champions listserv, iccb-ilcco-champions@lists.illinois.gov.

Course sharing is handled through the Online Course Exchange (OCE) software, available at http://oce.ilcco.net/. OCE provides a mechanism for making seat requests for other colleges, enrolling local students in courses at other colleges, retrieving grades, and more. The software is password protected and allows for colleges to assign a number of different staff in different roles.

Colleges can use the Advisors Training Manual for local training of advisors on course sharing. The manual is a template than can be modified locally. If colleges need additional training, either on the sharing process or for hands-on training in OCE, they should contact Jeff Newell for arrangements.

Professional Development

ILCCO provides a number of professional development activities annually. ILCCO holds a Growing Online Learning conference each year with a focus on quality online learning. The conference is free to all institutions in the state. ILCCO also holds a joint conference each April with NILRC, the Learning Innovations Conference, with topics of interest to both organizations. Steering meetings include college presentations, data discussions, and lightning rounds on specific distance learning topics.
